Higher Ground

The aerodynamics of road biking is a beautiful thing. Sometimes though, the purist needs a peaceful setting apart from cars and paved surfaces. Annadel Park is just the place and this gem of nature is only 10 minutes from home here in Santa Rosa.

Rolling oak studded woodlands abound and there is over 40 miles of rugged trail. Lake Ilsanjo and Ledson Marsh are nestled within. Many biologists even consider Annadel to be the finest example of northern oak woodlands in existence.

Here, while on my bike, I find both meditative moments in natural beauty as well as adrenaline and exhilaration. Mt. biking is a part of my cross training for the surf too. And unlike the elusive wave conditions, trail surfaces are a given.

No expensive health club membership here. Welcome to Club Annadel.
