D9

Enter District 9.... Think Robocop meets The Fly meets Alien. (& even jumble into the mix Cronenberg's Videodrome) D9 is part social comment, part dark comedy, part sci-fi. I really need to see it again to reconcile all these elements! Thoroughly engrossing and entertaining, as it pushes the genre envelope.

It also made me quite hungry for prawns.

Pothole Patrol

Lichau Road, viewed yesterday from over my handlebars, was a mosaic of potholes. I took the road bike on a much needed ride between ongoing rainstorms. The mountain bike with its full suspension may have been a better choice though. I did appreciate that the road had been repaired, but down in the lowland that precedes the big climb; the original road had more or less disappeared in a veneer of pothole patches.

We do what we can.

For the sixth year running, roads maintained by the county of Sonoma have been rated the worst in the Bay Area, according to regional transportation planners. ~Press Democrat

In sixty-nine I was twenty-one and I called the road my own
I don't know when that road turned onto the road I'm on ~Jackson Browne

hibernation

Morning fog, frigid weather & big swells. Will I leave my warm cocoon for that dawn patrol surf session?.....pause…..not

The most I could muster this week was a mid morning mellow at the Patch in waist high, glassy waves under a window of partly sunny skies. For me, this time of year; it’s like that. I seem to be choosing the mountain bike instead and reconnecting with the old crew in Annadel.

Not keeping up with the program? Just hibernating right now.
