Harry: I can't believe we drove around all day, and there's not a single job in this town. There is nothing, nada, zip! Lloyd: Yeah! Unless you wanna work forty hours a week. Harry: Maybe we should just check out Matt's YouTubes

ride the high country
There's guns across the river aimin' at ya
Lawman on your trail, he'd like to catch ya
Bounty hunters, too, they'd like to get ya

a view from the couch...
So I caught some Olympic coverage last night. Kudos to those men and women who rise to their peak levels of stamina and endurance. And some props to all the good folks at home who must also endure....the barrage of commercials. (I know it’s time for that DVR) The advertising spin shows our athletes feasting on McNuggets and sucking down Coke... a dubious regimen.
Another Olympic quandary for me is that of snowboarding attire.....in a stylin' good way. When I surf, I’m in a sleek and pliable wetsuit. For biking, it’s spandex. Skaters and skiers are all concerned with aerodynamics and manifest this in their gear. Snowboarding, on the other hand is also about attitude and lifestyle. The participants are more laid back it seems. They both hang loose and they dress loose. They dial in their ipods or do some texting before their run. Cords are dangling. Though this may be less efficient to performance, I can dig it. And the riders do shred!!
Speaking of performance and lifestyle, I caught some Mavericks streaming through their website. No onslaught of commercials here. Colorful commentators too. I love some of the surf terminology as well. When a surfer “got detonated” you knew it was not a good thing. “Going for donuts” seemed a bit more ambiguous. Too bad the event was somewhat eclipsed by the Olympics; as riding a 40 foot wave, seems to me, is even more spectacular!

L.A. Is My Lady
The music she moves to, is music that makes me a dancer
I brought her my wildest of dreams, and she came up with the answer
I leave behind a part of myself, whenever I leave her
But oh, when I'm back in her arms
She smiles and then - I am home again
'Cause L.A. is my lady
She's always there for me
L.A. is my lady
She knows how to care for me
No lady's sweeter - you know it the moment you meet her -Frank

Helmet Cam
Take a mountain bike ride down Annadel's Spring Creek Trail and groove. I came upon this YouTube and felt it really caught the hypnotic aspect of the descent.

Modern Day Mona
Sinister has been tagging the mean streets of Detroit since the late 80's and is collected worldwide..his client list includes Kid Rock..Eric Clapton..Iggy Pop..Jack White..Marilyn Manson and Gene Simmons..He is the leader of the Winking Zombie Artist Collective……….or so said the seller on Ebay.
Anyway, I sometimes get a little bored just sitting at the computer working on topo maps all day. At times I jump on Ebay and see what’s up. There were a series of paintings by Sinister that intrigued me and one in particular.
I pondered……Will the art of Sinister blow up like Banksy? Should I blow money on artwork? Would it be an investment? Either way I’d enjoy an unusual piece. Could it hurt just to bid?
Ebay often happens in the final several seconds of an auction. The first 4 Sinister paintings had from 12 to 41 bids each. I got blown off every time in the last 10 seconds. So for the final painting, I entered my max bid and held my breath. Yes! I was victorious on Ebay! Score an unusual painting and perhaps something of future value. If you must know, I dropped $46.
I’m drawn to this painting because the subject is like a modern day Mona Lisa with some ‘tude. Art is after all in the eye of the beholder; so that’s my take.

Endo The Line
We've been through some things together with trunks of memories still to come.
We found things to do in stormy weather, long may you run.
Long may you run, long may you run, although these changes have come.
With your chrome heart shining in the sun, long may you run. –Neil Young
Rhio’s mom drove this behemoth til she was 92! Happily she is still goin’ strong at 93, though the car is now history. The state paid 1000 bucks to get it off the road!
